Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) Info

Acetyl-L-Carnitine is an Acetyl ester of L-Carnitine. The Acetyl part of Acetyl-L-Carnitine molecule is used for the formation of the neuro transmitter Acetyl Choline. Abnormal Acetyl Choline metabolism in the brain was found to be associated with dementia including Alzheimer’s disease.

Experiments found that supplementation with Acetyl-L-Carnitine leads to improving cognitive function and increases the production of the energy in the cells. Only high quality vitamins can contain Acetyl-L-Carnitine.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine was suggested to be included into a vitamin complex to be helpful to enhance cognition, improve mental impairment in the elderly, improving attention, reducing severity of depression symptoms.

In particular, several clinical studies have found that Acetyl-L-Carnitine may delay the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. It also was found to improve overall performance in some people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Both short and long-term studies have revealed clinical benefits including reduction in the deterioration rate.
