A Pool is a Status Symbol

I remember when I was a kid, and having a swimming pool in the backyard was a novelty. None of my childhood friends had one, although sometimes we’d hear about someone who did, like some kind of tall tale or urban legend that we’d talk about in awed, jealous voices.
Now a swimming pool is almost like a status symbol. From Tony’s house on The Sopranos to Ray Winstone’s pool in Sexy Beast, a swimming pool makes you cool.
I think it’s actually a little superficial myself, but just a few weeks ago on of our neighbors contacted a Florida pool builder. Of course, I couldn’t help but realize that my reaction was the same as my parents’, years ago when my sister and I begged them to hire a Denton pool builder.
When my husband and I have kids, what will they think about the whole pool thing? Will they envy their friends who have them, and think their parents are mean for not getting one too? I don’t know. Maybe it’s silly of me, but I actually find myself wondering if I should start looking for Orlando pool builders now, before I have kids to give me the guilt trip.
